There is a lot of elk around Seaside if you know where to look....  OR, just drive down 101 about midnight... they should be all over the road there...

I stayed at a house on the beach between Seaside and Astoria last August while fishing bouy 10.  We saw elk in the dunes a few times over the long weekend, and there were 2 bulls about that size in the herd.
